an eTwinning science project between the Şcoala cu clasele I-VIII nr. 5 "Emil Gulian",Romania and the Primary School of Dimitritsi,Greece... http://new-twinspace.etwinning.net/web/p69439/welcome
PHENOMENA project received the European Quality labels:
PHENOMENA is one of the best etwinning projects in Europe!!!!
Here are the comments by the Greek School Advisor of the Serres region and the Greek eTwinning team :
I would like to express my congratulations for the excellent work that you and the students of the DimitritsiPrimary School have done. Words simply cannot express your remarkable efforts. This achievement should be made known to all the colleagues of our prefecture.
Before I have the chance to congratulate you in person, please convey my deepest greetings to your students for their significant work.
Keep on the good work!
Best regards,
Erifili Greziou
School Advisor
Congratulations! Your school has been awarded with the European Quality Label for the excellent work on the eTwinning project “Phenomena”. This means that your project, the work done by your students and your school, has met the highest European standards.
As a result, you will receive a certificate which you can attach to your webpage and display prominently at your school. Moreover, your project will appear on the European Portal www.etwinning.net
Once more, congratulations on your achievement and I am looking forward to meeting you at one of the eTwinning events during the year.
Best regards,
eTwinning Team

On 1st October 2012 the project PHENOMENA has received the QUALITY LABEL by the Romanian eTwinning National Support Service
On the 14th of July 2012 our project was presented during the summerfest "Dimitritsia" in Greece.
More than 500 saw the presentation. Among them there was the member of the Greek parliament Mr. Leondaridis who made the best comments for PHENOMENA...
Our project PHENOMENA was presented on 8 May 2012 in the Science Center and Technology Museum "NOESIS", in Thessaloniki.
One of our pupil administrators, Bloggerman, took part to the National Greek Students Conference about ICT, and presented eTwinning and the tutorials he has created for our project.
There were 8 pre-conferences in different Greek towns. Bloggerman had taken part to the pre-conference in Serres on 6 March 2012. The best presentations from all those pre-conferences were selected to be presented to the final conference in Thessaloniki.
A French teacher, Mrs Vaso Z., came from Thessaloniki to Dimitritsi school, because she liked our project and she wanted to do something about it too. So, she helped the students and the teachers of Dimitritsi to play with the roles of our story. In the end, they played the "RAINBOW STORY", a part of our book written by Romanian students. All this work in one day!

The second part of our story is ready. The first part was written by Greek students, this one by Romanian.
Both Greek and Romanian students have illustrated the book.
In this part, Thales, and his friend Iris, are visiting the Romanian school in Giurgiu using their time machine.
It was planned to be the end of the story. But....who knows.... Maybe this end of our story is the beginning of another exciting adventure for our two heroes. So, instead of THE END, you better keep in mind TO BE CONTINUED....
Our students made a short film concerning one episode of the our story "Thales and Iris". This story is written by students from both Romanian and Greek schools and it refers to the adventures of a young physician called Thales. Thales lives in 400 B.C. in Greece and he has managed to create a TIME MACHINE. In order to create this film the students made Thales and Iris out of clay. Then they set up a scenery using mirrors, an old motherboard from a computer, plants, a large glass plate and a blue bedsheet.
They put their camera on a small table in front of the scenery and they took many pictures while changing the lights and the position of Thales and Iris. They used a torch and colorful transparent papers to create light effects. Then all these photos were edited with movie maker. Sounds, titles and self made animations were added. Here is the result.
Made for Europe contest is held every year in the county and national level.
The competition is present final products made in Comenius projects.
On March 16, 2012 we presented our project Phenomena, eTwinning is part of the Comenius program.
One of the Romaninan students made this drawing and uploaded on the twispace of our project on the folder "light sources".
One of our project's work is to create a dictionary about science. Greek, Romanian and English teachers are working with the students for this on a google doc
We wanted to find a way to make this dictionary more interesting for our students.
So, we used the drawing of the Romanian student to create a game on a free web side. First we had to change the drawing by adding Romanian and Greek words that are used on our physics chapter about the rainbow and the analysis of light. The goal of the game is to find which English words represent the Romanian and Greek words that appear on the drawing. Click on the following image to play our game!
We have compined some of our drawings and photos and we have created a new image. Shall we use it as a logo for our eTwinning project? The students will decide...
Upon the creation of twinspace for our project, students from both schools started to learn how to create movies, animations and power point presentations. They also used their newly acquired knowledge to upload information regarding their school and their physics lessons on twinspace. The students who are pupil administrators helped organize twispace into files and sub files. Although Romania is faced with a tremendous winter and challenging weather conditions which hinder the students’ occupation with the lesson of physics, however this situation presented a wonderful opportunity for chat in the forum.
Romanian students uploaded this photo on the file "light sourses"
Special attention is given to the safe use of internet, particularly regarding the upload of children’s photos. Therefore, students were taught how to minimize their photos or how to blur them prior to uploading and use pictures where faces are somehow altered.
The Greek school used power point to upload the story of Narcissus, the beautiful youth who fell in love with his reflection in a pool and was punished by the gods for his arrogance. Reflections and mirrors constitute a major chapter of physics which we examine. The story of Narcissus inspired a new idea, which was script for a movie dealing with natural phenomena
Students from Romania and Greece are working on their twinspace, a safe platform for all eTwinning projects. Some of their work is going to be published on this blog.
It took us some time to find the right name for the project. Finally, we chose the Greek word "phenomena"
The phenomena, (Greek φαινόμενα) is the plural of the word phenomenon (from Greek φαινόμενoν), and it means any observable occurrence.Phenomena are often, but not always, understood as 'appearances' or "experiences" .
They are also significant or rare facts or events.
In scientific usage, a phenomenon is any event that is observable, however common it might be, even if it requires the use of instrumentation to observe, record, or compile data concerning it. For example, in physics, a phenomenon may be a feature of matter, energy, or spacetime, such as Isaac Newton's observations of the moon's orbit and of gravity, or Galileo Galilei's observations of the motion of a pendulum.
